What is Skin Purging and Compromised Skin Barriers, how to take care of your skin naturally
With the incredible advances in technology, we know more about skin than we ever have. We know the importance of protecting our skin from UVA and UVB light and the need for daily hydration. What hasn’t changed through time is the variations of skin types.
From sensitivity, allergies, dry, oily and dull skin conditions, everyone has different skin. So, when it comes to treating your skin with kindness, often unnatural forms of skincare like synthetic and chemical compounds can exacerbate your skin condition.
From protecting your skin barrier to helping heal your skin from harsh chemical blunders and even skin purging, we have all the answers to your most asked questions in the chemical VS natural skincare saga.
How to get the Most out of my Skincare

What is a skin barrier?
Your skin barrier is like a seal that keeps the topmost layers of your skin together. When your skin barrier is healthy, it is soft and smooth to touch leaving you with plump and supple skin. When it is damaged, you are left feeling rough and dry and looking dull.
What is Compromised skin barrier?
Your skin barrier is your best friend. The first step in achieving healthy vibrant skin is often restoring the barrier. Compromising your skin barrier can be as simple as over exfoliating or using too many harsh actives. Understand your ingredients and do your research into when and how often you should be using each product. In our range we recommend using our Jojoba Bean Natural Exfoliant twice or three times a week. Every other product in our collection can be used daily.
How to restore my skin barrier?
If you have damaged your skin, we recommend stripping back your routine. Remove any harsh active components and give your skin time to heal. Try a bottle of our pure Australian Wadi-Wadi Jojoba. Bursting with essential omegas, vitamins and antioxidants to give your skin the ‘pick me up’ it needs. The building blocks for a younger and healthier looking complexion, use Wadi-Wadi Jojoba twice a day for the best results.

What is skin purging?
Skin purging is a temporary break-out or acne flare up that is common when introducing a new skincare ingredient or product into your routine or even a facial. To put it simply, it’s your skin reacting to something it has never encountered before.
Is my skin purging or am I just breaking out?
Unfortunately, the two look quite similar and the only way to truly know the difference is to seek advice from a dermatologist. It takes time for products and ingredients to work so instant result skincare doesn’t really exist!
Why does my skin purge?
When switching from a chemical and synthetic skincare regime to a natural one, your skin may go through a purging stage. Jojoba works to regulate your sebum production helping your skin work as it was always designed to. Working deep beneath the skins surface, Jojoba works to rebalance the skin, stripping your skin of your previous harsh chemical skincare to bringing your skin back to its natural, brighter, healthier self.
What does it mean if my skin is purging?
Skin purging is an increase in skin cell turnover. Sometimes you might experience this if you are trying a new product or ingredient that your skin isn't used to or if that product is working to strip back the layers of your skin. The only plant in the plant kingdom to produce a liquid wax that is the same molecular structure to our skins own oils, our skin recognises this liquid gold and instantly accepts it into the skin. Without breaking down barriers or destroying the skin, Jojoba works in conjunction with each layer of the skin, rebalancing and bringing it back to life. Helping stabilise your sebum production or removing past skincare from your skin, Jojoba brings your skin back to basics helping it breath again.
How long does skin purging last?
Like with most skincare immediate results don’t exist. It takes time for products to work, so our best advice is to stick with it! If you are experiencing purging with Jojoba, this normally would like around 2 weeks. Jojoba restores the skin to the way it should be.
